Milton Manor, begun in the seventeenth century (between 1630 nd 1670), has been in the Barrett family for six generations, since Bryant Barrett purchased the estate in 1764, and 'Georgianised' the house, which includes a very droll Strawberry Hill Gothick library and, germane to our purposes, a Catholic Chapel used by (among others) Bishop Richard Challoner.

Mass is occasionally said here by the parish, as part of our annual Milton 'Pilgrimage' from East Hendred, ad hoc for parish groups, or privately for the family.
