A Baptism at S. Mary's, East Hendred
BAPTISM
Baptism is the First Sacrament, by which one is cleansed of original sin, by grace regenerated and justified, and incorporated into the Body of Christ, which is the Church. Babies, children, and adults can all be baptised: it's never too late, and never too early!
To be baptised in Hendred Catholic Parish, either at S. Mary's in East Hendred, or S. Patrick's in East Ilsley, you'll need to be part of our worshipping community here, coming to Mass on Sundays and Holydays, and striving to live the Faith. If that's not you - yet! - you're encouraged to talk to the priest about when might be the right time for this sacred rite.
Baptism isn't a rite-of-passage, 'getting the baby done', and it's not done lightly: in Baptism, you take on heavy responsibilities for your child's - or godchild's - spiritual growth, committing to bring them up as Catholics, to take them to Church, and to teach them their Faith, nurturing teh new life they receive in the water sof teh font.
